SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, HOBBIES AND LEISURE
Stable Steps Care Centre will continue to accomplish one of the highest standards of care that will be met in a personalized way. We hope our service users can make it their new home, whether it’s for a short or long period of time. We aim to extend and continually improve our Care Home Services.
We have dedicated activities organisers, who arrange a wide range of entertainment and offer staff support and guidance in using 'in house' activities. We have regular planned events which include bingo, music, entertainers, gardening, games, crafting and much more. We even go to the community church every Thursday and have a flower man coming in to spread joy by giving out bouquets to our residents. Pampering sessions are also carried out with manicures. We have a monthly activities planner which is reviewed regularly in line with the resident’s daily engagement.
A monthly newsletter is also sent out to the resident’s families and copies are available throughout the communal spaces for the residents to read. It includes whatever has been planned for the upcoming month, resident’s birthdays, pictures of activities that took place the month before, some quizzes and jokes to enjoy too.
All our activities are approached from a person-centred care perspective and cover a wide range of abilities. Golden Carers is a website that we have subscribed to for guidance, ideas especially in trying to engage dementia patients in various activities.
"activities are not always about 'doing things', such as entertainment, baking, knitting, etc. It's about being with people and communicating on a personal level"
An activity can be merely a 'tool' to achieving person centred care.
